This Spring local artist Tammy Cunningham decided to participate in the 2017 Wildflower! Art Guitar Program & Auction, sponsored by Ebby Halliday Realtors. The pink guitar Tammy is donating to the auction is titled “Bohemian Gypsy Garden,” and believe it or not she only used markers to create the intricate designs.

A couple of times a week Tammy selected a fine point or ultra-fine point black Sharpie and as she describes, “used the marker to draw freehand what I envision as a peek into a free-spirited gypsy garden.” Look closely and you’ll notice flowers, curled ribbons, and a dragonfly resting in a peaceful place.

The custom guitar will be on display for the public May 19-21, 2017 at the 25th Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival inside the Eisemann Center.

“I hope that when people see my guitar they feel a flowing, free spirited vibe. I had an image of bohemian flower children, peace and love, lots of music, and I hope they can pick-up that same feel.”

Although Tammy doesn’t yet have her own mystical flower garden, she is a hometown Richardson girl. “I took guitar lessons at the Richardson Heights Recreation Center back in the mid-70’s. I can still strum a few chords,” says Tammy.

This silent auction will be open for bidding until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21st and all proceeds benefit the NETWORK of Community Ministries and the Richardson ISD Fine Arts Programs. Absolutely anyone may bid on the guitars and Tammy admits that while she misses seeing it in her living room, there are already two more guitar projects in the works.

Tammy Cunningham receives first guitar for Christmas.
